Deploying IndoorAtlas is the process of enabling indoor positioning. Firstly, you always need to create a building and upload the floor plan images in IndoorAtlas Web App.
Next, signal data for positioning maps is created either through:
A) Collecting (aka fingerprinting) signal data from a target venue with our mapping application, MapCreator 2. B) Following the No-fingerprinting deployment process. |
In both cases, you also need to make sure there's a suitable battery-powered BLE beacon or WiFi-access point infrastructure available in the venue. Our Beacon Planner helps you to design a beacon installation layout if you plan to install battery-powered beacons.
Below we give you an overview of the standard deployment process to help you produce high-quality deployments.
The Deployment Process
- Prepare
- Create venue and upload floor plans.
- Create a beacon plan using Beacon Planner
- Configure beacons in WiFi Access Points or install beacons.
- Check that your Android device is a qualified for fingerprinting. Note: use just one device model for fingerprinting in a given area (e.g. a floor).
- Learn
- Browse through the guides in deployment section.
- Learn how to place waypoints accurately in Web app and MapCreator 2.
- Learn how to record paths and check-in accurately using MapCreator 2.
- Learn how to use the Instant Analytics in MapCreator 2 to detect fingerprinting issues on-the-go.
- Learn to avoid common issues by paying attention to MapCreator warnings.
- Improve skills by learning how to place waypoints in more challenging environments.
- Fingerprint or Import Radio Data
- A) Fingerprint the venue, OR
- B) Import beacon through Beacon Planner and place floor plan masks.
- Monitor fingerprinting analytics continuously.
- Validate
- Verify beacon deployment.
- Validate deployment using Ground Truth paths, TraceIds, and Session viewer.
- Verify beacon deployment.
